Why we built this

Most companies know they need an employee handbook. Few enjoy writing one. The blank-page problem — plus templates that overpromise "50-state compliance" — keeps good handbooks from ever shipping.

Employee Handbook Generator takes a different approach: a focused questionnaire, a live document that assembles itself as you answer, and honest labeling about what is general U.S. policy language versus a source-checked state module. Every legal-framed section records the agency source it tracks and the date it was last checked.

What the tool does

• Generates a complete employee handbook draft — thirteen core sections plus optional PTO, sick leave, benefits, remote work, hourly pay, and FMLA modules
• Includes a source-checked California overlay (paid sick leave, meal and rest breaks, harassment prevention training)

• Saves your draft locally in your browser — your answers never leave your device

What the tool does not do

It is not a law firm and not legal advice. It does not promise compliance with every federal, state, or local rule, and it will not pretend your handbook is "compliant in Texas" or any other state. Where coverage ends, the document says so. Have qualified counsel review your finished handbook before distributing it.

How it is maintained

Policy modules are versioned. Each records a content version, a last-source-check date, and a review status (internal-draft, source-checked, or legal-reviewed). When rules change, modules are updated — and because sections you customize are marked, your edits are never silently overwritten.
